In alignment with Healthy Little Havana’s CAP Goal EM 1: Develop a prosperous business environment where Little Havana businesses can start, sustain, and grow, the Education to Employment Committee proposes to enhance small business sustainability within Little Havana through an integrative curriculum designed specifically for Little Havana small businesses.  Participants will be given the tools, information, and resources to become more knowledgeable members of the community resulting in effective business leadership advocating for a healthier, thriving neighborhood.

Healthy Little Havana’s Education to Employment Committee has convened the following partners to play a critical role in the project:

  • Healthy Little Havana

  • City of Miami

  • Prospera

  • Miami Dade College

Successful implementation of this project will provide small businesses a variety of tools, information, and resources to establish successful initial steps to a sustainable business that can succeed and help build a thriving neighborhood-based ecosystem.

The curriculum is facilitated by the identified partners to help participants in several ways:

  • Government 101 – How to work with government to establish your business

  • Small business resources

  • Expanding your business through marketing and sponsorships

  • Financial Literacy for small businesses

  • Identifying and training staff for your business

Healthy Little Havana’s Education to Employment Committee believes that each small business in Little Havana may all require specific assistance.  This is not a one size fits all approach, but a blueprint to help small businesses one-by-one in a thoughtful, intentional way.
