Florida Community-Engaged Research Alliance (FL-CEAL)

Healthy Little Havana is a proud community partner of the Florida Community-Engaged Research Alliance (FL-CEAL), a statewide initiative led by the University of Miami and funded by the National Institutes of Health.

Our focus? Tackling food insecurity and building local capacity to promote long-term health equity in Miami’s Little Havana.

This project is part of a broader NIH-funded research study testing whether addressing social determinants of health (SDoH) like food insecurity can improve participants’ quality of life. It also includes the development of a statewide Community Health Worker (CHW) training curriculum on SDoH.
