Global Donut Day @ HLH Office

  • Healthy Little Havana 515 Southwest 12th Avenue Miami, FL, 33130 United States (map)

As a part of Healthy Little Havana’s efforts to build collaborative relationships between our committees, we are convening a special event for ALL HLH Committee members for Monday, Nov. 13th. We hope as many of you as possible can make it; we will have 20 spaces available and ask you to please RSVP. Refreshments will be provided.

While the time frame is long (1:45 pm to 5 pm +), there’s some flexibility as to when/how you can participate. See details below.

This is not a usual gathering – it is coinciding with an event that will bring together changemakers from all over the world.

Global Donut Day does not celebrate tasty doughnuts but instead an exciting new economic model – the Doughnut Model – that more and more cities and communities around the world are integrating into their work. This model aligns perfectly with our Collective Impact approach. Learn more about Doughnut Economics here.

We will begin our gathering by connecting globally with other Donut participants from around the world and will learn about the Donut model (it’s NOT boring, trust us – it’s inspiring). We are working on a connection with the Latin America Donut hub. Please bring your laptop if you want!

Then comes the in-person part: we will have a facilitated World Café small group dialogue to reflect on how we can apply aspects of the model into our own work at Heathy Little Havana. Then those of you who want to continue the conversation can join us in a walk to a local restaurant to break tortillas together!

The Day’s Agenda

  • 1:45 pm: Meet us at the Healthy Little Havana office (515 SW 12th Ave, Suite 525), Miami. We’ll be starting the live-stream!

  • 2-2:30 pm: Global Connections with Donut participants from around the world – learn how they are applying the Donut model.

  • An Introduction to Doughnut Economics with economist Kate Raworth (virtual, live-streamed)

  • 3:30-5 pm: Facilitated small group dialogue (World Cafe) on how we could apply Donut Principles at HLH and beyond. We will be doing creative stuff, too.

  • 5-5:15 pm: (optional) short walk to local eatery for follow-up conversations!

If you want to participate but can’t, we can still send you the link to participate in the virtual sessions. We ask that you RSVP if interested to Corinna Moebius, Co-Chair of the HLH Food & Public Space Committee, at cm@terravivajourneys.com with “Global Donut Day” in the subject line. If you just want a link but can’t make it, let us know at the same email address! Thank you!

Thank you and we hope you can join us!
